We have a current vacancy for a full time Chef to join our dedicated Kitchen Team at King’s Park Conference Centre, Moulton Park, Northampton.

This is a full time permanent role (37.5 hours per week) with attractive hours: Shifts include: 7.30-3.30 / 12.30-8.30 pm with 1/2 hour for meal break.

The main purpose of this role is to prepare and cook homecooked/fresh meals as required by the Catering Manager for our conference and residential guests.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  1. To prepare and cook meals as required by the Catering Manager.
  2. To maintain the highest possible standards in the preparation, cooking and serving of food.
  3. To ensure a high level of kitchen hygiene and cleaning is maintained at all times.
  4. To adhere to health and safety regulations in all areas of work.
  5. To assist in the completion of daily schedules or any special project as requested by the Catering Manager.
  6. To help ensure only sufficient food is produced to give guests and staff eligible for meals the correct portions.
  7. When on duty to be responsible for the oversight of staff whilst they are within the kitchen and dining room areas.
  8. When on duty to ensure that the security of the Department, including stock and equipment, is maintained.
  9. To assist in any other work that may be required to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

Personal Specification

Job Specific

Essential

  • Previous Catering /Chef Experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Catering.
  • Good all round catering knowledge.
  • Use of all types of catering equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • High level of kitchen hygiene.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of responsibilities under HSAW act, COSHH, infection control & essentials of food hygiene.
  • Experience of working in a residential setting.

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • A committed team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well, and form positive relationships with colleagues and guests.

Some duties include:
